Who are we?
Balanced Minds is a UK organisation set up in 2012 by Dr Chris Irons, Dr Charlie Heriot-Maitland and Dr Korina Ioannou, three Clinical Psychologists with a shared interest in Compassion Focused Therapy. In parallel to their NHS roles, they set up Balanced Minds in a bid to provide world-class compassion-focused psychological services and resources.
The Balanced Minds family has grown from its beginnings as a team of 3 like-minded friends and colleagues, to a strong group of 28 experienced Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists and Psychotherapists. We are now proud to say that we are the single largest specialist provider of Compassion Focused Therapy anywhere in the world!
All our therapists have training in Compassion Focused Therapy alongside a range of other specialist therapeutic approaches such as CBT, Cognitive Analytical Therapy, Family Therapy, Behavioural Interventions, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Body-Based Therapy and Yoga. We have private consulting rooms in London Victoria and London King’s Cross, and offer therapy, coaching, supervision, training workshops, consultation and workplace wellbeing both in person and remotely.

Our approach is grounded in compassion, and the principles and evidence based effectiveness of Compassionate Mind Training (CMT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) developed initially by Professor Paul Gilbert.
Life can be hard at times – work, relationships, financial concerns, and health worries. Sometimes these struggles ease on their own, or through strategies that we already have access to.
However, when it feels like we’re stuck in the mud of our difficulties, when we can’t find a path out of our struggles, we can help you to find your balance again.
Whether this is through understanding yourself more, or learning new strategies to manage the difficulties you’re facing, Balanced Minds has a variety of services that can help you get on track again and consequently promote your general wellbeing.
Balanced Minds are passionate about providing different ways for people to access helpful, evidence based psychological interventions. There are three main services that we provide:
2. Self-Help: Want help but don’t want therapy? We have a range of innovative wellbeing courses, a Self-Compassion App, as well as a variety of audio and self-help materials that may help you learn to manage your difficulties in new ways.
