Client Confidentiality & Data Protection

Balanced Minds will respect and protect the confidentiality of your personal data and any information you share during your sessions. Your therapist will maintain this information in accordance with the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation May 2018 (GDPR), clinical governance audit standards, and requirements of his/her professional body. More details can be found in our Privacy Statement.

Your personal data will not be shared with third parties, with the exception of the below circumstances when your therapist is under legal obligation to provide information to the appropriate agencies (e.g. GP, the police, Social Services etc):

a) He/she perceives that you are a danger to yourself or others
b) He/she perceives that a minor is at risk
c) He/she is required to share information under a court order or by law
d) He/she is required to disclose information for the prevention, detection or prosecution of a crime

Your therapist will aim to discuss such concerns and obligations with you before notifying relevant parties, however this may not always be possible, and he/she will use clinical judgment to act in the best possible way to minimize possible harm.

Your therapist is required to participate in regular supervision as part of his/her commitment to good practice and in accordance with professional standards. The duty of confidentiality extends to your therapist’s supervisor(s).

General Terms & Conditions

Our standard fees are £110 per 50 minute session with a Psychotherapist, £130 with a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist and £140 with a Clinical Director. These fees apply to both the initial assessment session and all follow up sessions. A separate rate of £140 / £160 / £170 per session will be charged for couple’s therapy. Other concessionary rates may occasionally be agreed on an individual basis with the therapist.

Payments for initial assessment sessions can be made by card online and are due 48 working hours before the appointment. For any follow-up sessions, invoices will be sent by email at the beginning of each calendar month (for sessions held in the previous month). We ask for payment for follow-up sessions to be made by bank transfer within 14 days of invoicing. For therapy that is being funded under an insurance policy e.g. BUPA, AXA, Aviva, etc., sessions will be invoiced at the agreed insurer rates and billed directly to the insurer. Please ensure that you have pre-authorisation in place for mental health services before attending ALL your sessions as Balanced Minds will not have access to this information. Any sessions or excess fees that fall outside of your insurance policy will need to be self-funded. Unfortunately we cannot accept credit card payments at this time and there will be a small transaction fee applied for those using PayPal or Stripe.

Balanced Minds operates a 48-hour working day cancellation policy. Sessions will be charged at the full rate if cancelled inside of this time frame. Any late payments will be taken seriously and your therapist reserves the right to pause or terminate your sessions and your allocated therapy slot may not be kept open for you. Unfortunately legal steps will need to be followed should payments remain unsettled over a period of time that Balanced Minds deem unacceptable.

The provision of all services to the client (including the initial appointment and all services provided since) by Balanced Minds and/or its associates is governed by English law and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts to which both the client and Balanced Minds and its associates submit. By accepting any services from Balanced Minds and/or its associates the client agrees that they shall not bring a claim in any other jurisdiction against Balanced Minds and/or its associates.
