Brenda Kane

Psychotherapist & Associate

Brenda is a psychological therapist, with a history of working in mental health, having started her career in mental health in 1994 as a Mental Health Nurse.  Working in admissions, day services for people experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems, and latterly working with people experiencing homelessness.   Brenda learned a lot from the people she worked with and recognised the impact of psychosocial interventions, therapeutic relationship, and more formal therapy which led to her developing her skills.

When an opportunity arose to train in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) she was keen, a model introduced to her by a Psychiatrist she worked with.   Brenda went on to study other modalities, an opportunity to offer therapeutic models that may best suited the people she worked with, to collaboratively work towards improving their mental health and wellbeing.

Working in general adult psychological therapies, she has experience of working with people who have presented with an array of difficulties impacting on their relationships, employment and in how they see themselves; regularly working with people experiencing Anxiety Disorders, Depression, PTSD and complex PTSD.

Brenda has worked in an adult Psychological Therapies team initially part time from 2008; but since 2015 she has focussed her time in full to the delivery of Psychological Therapies.
