Dr Marta Prytys
Clinical Psychologist & Associate
Marta is a Clinical Psychologist who gained her Doctorate from University College London. With over 10 years’ experience in the NHS, Marta has experience of working therapeutically with a range of difficulties including chronic pain and fatigue, depression, anxiety, stress, psychosis and trauma.
Marta is passionate about Compassion Focused Therapy because she believes it provides a scientifically rigorous and deeply empathic understanding of how human minds work, and how this can lead to emotional difficulties. This includes a focus on understanding mind-body links, how people can get stuck in unhelpful patterns, and making sense of this in the context of current and past life experiences.
Within her practice, Marta aims to provide an empathic, non-judgemental space in which people feel safe to explore and understand their own difficulties, to learn new ways of relating to themselves and others and to begin to make changes in life. She incorporates ideas and techniques from other evidence-based therapies into her CFT practice including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness. Her specialist interests include managing persistent physical symptoms, perfectionism, workplace stress, sleep problems, depression and anxiety.
