Jim Clark

Psychotherapsist & Associate

Jim Clark is an experienced BABCP accredited psychotherapist, and mindfulness and meditation teacher. His journey began in the arts and music industry in London and Glasgow in the 1990s. In 2000 he started a regular meditation practice, and shortly afterwards he decided to retrain as a mental health nurse.

He went on to complete cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) training and has worked for many years in different settings in the NHS as a nurse, a specialist CBT therapist, and a mindfulness teacher, trainer and supervisor.

Since 2015 Jim has been working in private practice in London offering individual therapy and teaching more than 30 8-week mindfulness courses. He now offers individual therapy online. He loves working with people and helping them learn how to be their own therapists by managing difficulties more effectively, connecting with what matters, and choosing paths that lead to greater nourishment, fulfilment, healing and ease.

Jim can offer individualised assessment, formulation and therapy for clients seeking help with a wide range of issues. He works in a client centred way, creating a warm and safe space to explore whatever issues his clients wish to bring.

These can include relationship difficulties, stress at work and/or home, creative blocks and challenging life decisions, low mood and depression, anxiety and worry, problems around eating, sleep difficulties, obsessive thoughts and behaviours, traumatic memories or events, and addictions.

His therapy approach is based in the cognitive behavioural tradition. Jim has a particular interest and appreciation for compassion focused therapy (CFT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and depending on the client’s needs, he will draw upon and integrate other therapeutic approaches including functional analytic psychotherapy (FAP), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT).

Jim Clark is committed to a non-discriminatory practice. His approach is kink friendly and sex positive. He is appreciative of differences however they are experienced and perceived by the client, be that by gender, sex, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion or belief. He doesn’t assume he will always get it right, and welcomes feedback from clients to know if there are ways they can feel more comfortable opening up around these or other issues.
