Dr Joanna Chabinska

Clinical Psychologist & Associate


In her doctoral research Joanna investigated how to achieve a sense of personal fulfilment and job satisfaction whilst promoting resilience and preventing burnout. She is also passionate about new developments in neuroscience and neuropsychology and incorporates this in her work.

Over the last 10 years Joanna has continued to help individuals, couples and families to flourish and thrive through her work in the charitable sector and the NHS including complex and acute inpatient settings. Joanna has also provided support and consultation to fellow NHS colleagues and other professionals in organisational settings with regards to their job satisfaction, resilience and burnout prevention. All of which has enabled Joanna to provide comprehensive assessment and individually tailored therapeutic interventions for any difficulties and life transitions one may experience. These might include a number of personal challenges or lifestyle changes, difficulties with mood, upsetting thoughts or feelings, relational problems or distressing life events.

Joanna utilises an integrative approach with an emphasis on a compassion-focussed therapeutic framework although her work is personal and unique to each individual and their life story. Joanna uses a wide range of therapeutic models and specialist knowledge and is also trained in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Metacognitve Therapy  (MCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (D.Clin. Psych) – Edinburgh University

Master of Science in Psychological Counselling (MSc) – Strathclyde & Glasgow Caledonian University
